HP Pelzer Acquires Mexican Plant from Carcoustics

HP Pelzer Group, a worldwide operating specialist for vehicle acoustics and car trim materials, acquires from Carcoustics Group the manufacturing plant of CarMex, located in Pachuca, Mexico. This plant produced textile automotive components worth 47 million dollars in 2008. It provides parts mainly for customers like Volkswagen and Nissan. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed from both companies.

With the acquisition HP Pelzer strengthens its product and customer portfolio in Mexico. HP Pelzer Group plans to rename CarMex as HPP Systems de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. and develop into a regional hub within its NAFTA integration strategy. Volkswagen Group as CarMex´ biggest customer has actively pursued the owner change of the plant. This acquisition is a move towards an expected sector consolidation that will enable both suppliers to put a stronger focus on their respective core competencies.

HP Pelzer in Talks With Stakeholders

Witten, February 5, 2009Just like all suppliers, HP Pelzer Group is affected by the decline in unit sales on the international market for automobiles. Because of this situation, the management of Pelzer is in talks with its owners, creditors and large OEM customers about the future strategic positioning of the HP Pelzer Group.

Because of the fragmented market and overcapacity on the market, consolidation within the industry seems logical and necessary. The goals of such a solution are to create operative economies of scale in engineering and a global presence.

The perspectives are good for implementing a lasting strategic solution with the help of OEMs. Whatever a sustainable solution could look like, HP Pelzer Group would like to have an active role in it.

We will let you know about any results as soon as possible.
